11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. 12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
I'm certain my mother-in-law has disagreements with my father-in-law, she may even argue with him at times, but you won't hear about it from her. While I'm all too okay with blasting my husband in front of anybody, even at the expense of embarrassing him, my mother-in-law keeps any disagreements with her husband where it should be...just between them.
2. She gets up EARLY
15 She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants
Have you ever been at Wal-Mart at 6:00am on Saturday morning? Yeah, me neither. But, if you ever are at Wal-Mart at 6:00am on Saturday morning, be sure to say "Hello" to my mother-in law for me because she'll be there.
3. She Fills Her Time with Work
17 She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. 18 ... and her lamp does not go out at night.
I feel no guilt in forgoing housework to watch a Golden Girls marathon, but you would NEVER catch my mother-in-law doing that. On any given morning, she will have started the crock pot, unloaded the dishwasher, graded a stack of papers, hemmed a pair of pants, and paid the bills, all before my first alarm clock has sounded.
4. She Plans and Prepares
20 She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. 21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household...
Do you remember that show, "Let's Make a Deal?" To find contestants, the host would ask for people to pull random objects out of their purse and the person who had said random object would be the next contestant. My mother-in-law would own that show. Need meds? She has Advil and Tylenol, Tums, bandaids, hand-sanitizer and sunscreen. Button fall off? She has needle and thread, along with an assortment of buttons that are sure to meet your need. She even has these scissors that fold up into a neat little pack. Feeling peckish? There's probably a granola bar and a bottled of water in that pocketbook of hers and she'll have a roll of paper towels in the mini-van for you to catch crumbs with, too.
5. She doesn't understand why I'm impressed by all of this
28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
My mother-in-law is the Proverbs 31 Woman, but I'm not threatened. She does all of these things in such a way that I can't help but want to honor, adore, and emulate her.
Do you have a Proverbs 31 Woman in your life?
