At just 6 years old, you have the confidence to wear what you like, even when nobody else is wearing it. You commit to study the things that aren't even on the test, even when nobody will reward it. You make friends with those that have been shunned, even when nobody else does. You do all of these things, and I stand amazed, You are learning to love Jesus, and to rely on Him more and more. I have enjoyed hearing your prayers to Him mature these past few months, and my heart swells as I anticipate your salvation experience.
Sweet daughter, you and I have many differences, and we often struggle to relate to one another. I promise to quit trying to control you so much, to quit trying to mold you into an ideal that makes sense to me. Instead, I will work harder at allowing you to be yourself. You are nothing like me, but that's ok, because what I'm finally learning is that you are actually so much better than me. So Happy 6th Birthday, Sophia Lane. You are going to have a mighty impact on this world, if only your Momma would get out of the way.
